This is somewhat related to my previous post on building an e-commerce enabled website.
As I've mentioned, I was supposed to make use of Webnode's e-commerce solutions. On second thought though, reliability is surely a major factor to consider.
So I thought of finding other solutions.
I came across Ashop Commerce, a US provider of hosted shopping cart software. It looks promising. It integrates with major banks, online payment gateways, and third party processors counting PayPal in. On the checkout security or customer protection aspect, it looks like Ashop Commerce is keen on this --well-- just as what anyone should be expecting in shopping cart applications.
The foremost problem of free online solutions would probably be tech support. Weebly has good customer support but it lacks the integrated e-commerce feature that Webnode offers. Still, reliability is a factor and getting paid third party applications is usually a safer option. Indeed, if one's serious about doing something, he has to shed out some bucks for the price of security and proven technical capability.
Other interesting features of Ashop Commerce include customizable design and a search engine optimized structure. I used to place a lot of widgets on this blog but that led to a very low SEO score for me. Website add-ons are usually not crawl-able for search engines.
Ashop Commerce offers a 10-day free trial and there's also a demo section on their website.
